Several brand new Ford Focus cars were written off after a transporter became wedged under a low bridge in Warwickshire.
The delivery driver had taken a short cut to avoid queues when he collided with a 14.5ft (4.4m) high bridge.
A motorist who witnessed the incident said: “It’s a long road and it was pretty obvious the transporter was too high for the bridge but it kept going and suddenly there was a crunch and all these new cars got wrecked.”
No one was injured in the crash but the damage virtually flattened the brand new cars on the transporters’ upper level.
